Talisman: Taveez (2001) references diverse artistic traditions, dating from the 5th century BCE to the present day. The painting, one of the last that Sheikh painted in oil before he switched to other media, sold for ₹4.8 crore at a Saffronart event in March.

Returning Home after a Long Absence (1969-73) is a seminal work in which Gulammohammed Sheikh reflects on his childhood. It features his mother, Laduben Sheikh, and a view of Surendranagar, Gujarat, where he grew up.
