Raichur in Karnataka is a reserved Lok Sabha seat. BV Nayak of the Congress is the sitting MP. Nayak managed to win the 2014 elections by a slender margin of 1499 votes. He had defeated Shivanagouda Nayak of the BJP.

BV Nayak is the Congress candidate in Raichur for 2019 elections too. The constituency has been represented the Nayak family five times, once by BV Nayak and four times by his father AV Nayak.
The BJP candidate is Amareshwara Nayak, who switched from the Congress before the election. Raichur is in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region and consists of a considerable number of Telugu speakers. Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu campaigned for the Congress candidate here.
