The NCP’s Thane unit is up in arms against the Thane district election commission for denying permission to use a campaign video clip of its Lok Sabha candidate Anand Paranjpe.
The party alleged that the commission rejected permission on the basis that the clip uses caricatures who resemble PM Narendra Modi, Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya.
The party has threatened to stop all campaigns in Thane if their film is not permitted in 24 hours by the election commission.
Jitendra Awhad, NCP MLA, in a press conference said, “The campaign film of NCP candidate Anand Paranjpe, has used caricatures, which look similar to PM Narendra Modi and two accused Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya who fled the country after robbing crores of rupees. This was the reason given by the media centre of the Thane district information office, for rejecting the film.”
He alleged that since Paranjpe’s campaign is gaining much momentum in the city, few employees from the collector’s office are working with the ruling party to put pressure on them.
“The permission for our posters are delayed, most of our films are stuck for approval and now the rejection of this film. These delays are merely to put pressure on our party workers. We want the state election commission to intervene and inquire into these incidents in the next 24 hours or we will disrupt all campaigns in the Lok Sabha constituency.

{{/usCountry}}Rajesh Narvekar, district collector said, “The decision was taken as per the guidelines of the election commission. The film does not cater to the rules of campaigning set by the election commission. It is expected that campaigning should be positive and not negative or defamatory. We will not permit the film.”
