Campaigning came to an end on Saturday in Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency and Pulwama and Shopian districts of Anantnag seat in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said 6,97,148 electorate will exercise their franchise at 1254 polling stations in Ladakh and the two south Kashmir districts on Monday.
The Ladakh Lok Sabha seat, spread over Leh and Kargil districts, has 1,74,618 electorate. Rigzin Spalbar of the Congress, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal of the BJP and two independents--Asgar Ali Karbalai and Sajjad Hussain--are in the fray for the seat.
On Saturday, Kargili, who is being supported by the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party PDP and the Anjuman Jamiatul Islamian School--a powerful religious body -- held a big show of strength in Kargil before the campaign came to an end.
Meanwhile, in Pulwama and Shopian district, many youths with adverse police records were detained on Saturday. Officials said they wanted peaceful voting in the final round of three-phase election in Anantnag constituency. On Friday, three militants, including Lateef Tiger, an associate of dead Hizbul commander Burhan Wani, were killed in an encounter in Shopian district.
A senior police officer said many people with adverse police records had been detained in Shopian and Pulwama districts. “We want peaceful atmosphere on the polling day,” the officer said. They would be released after the end of polling, he added. Leaders of political parties are apprehensive of low polling turnout as Shopian and Pulwama are militancy-infested districts where the election campaign remained muted.

{{/usCountry}}The polling in Anantnag Lok Sabha seat is being held in three phases due to security reasons. In the first phase, 13.63% polling was recorded in Anantnag district. In the second phase, 10.32% voters exercised their franchise in Kulgam district.
Shopian and Pulwama districts, spread over six assembly segments of Tral, Pampore, Pulwama, Rajpora, Wachi and Shopian, have 5.22 lakh registered voters and 695 polling stations. All the polling booths have been declared hypersensitive.
These districts are crucial for Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, more so because the turnout was very low in the first two rounds of voting.
Apart from Mehbooba, 17 more candidates are in the fray.
