Appealing to people to vote for the NDA, Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das on Monday claimed that the prime minister Narendra Modi’s efforts brought fruits of development in the Santhal region.
Referring the upcoming harbour on the Ganga in Sahebganj, he said “The harbour in Jharkhand will open doors for international trade.” He made the appeal in an election rally at Barhait in Sahebganj district under Rajmahal parliamentary constituency.
Campaigning for the BJP’s Rajmahal candidate Hemalal Murmu, Das said, “Modi gave a harbour on the Ganga in Sahebganj. It is going to be milestones in the development of entire Santhal region as it will open doors for national and international trade.”
Das slammed the Congress and the JMM for giving birth to corruption in Jharkhand. “The JMM has been cheating the tribal people of this region since 40 years. Development never reached villages, poor and downtrodden here. Did Barhait legislator Hemant Soren strive to bring development? No. He only grabbed tribal land at throw away prices by violating the provisions of tenancy laws,” Das alleged.
He added, “JMM leaders don’t want an alert and educated tribal just so they can run their political shops. Let’s understand the character of the JMM which claims itself as well wisher of tribals. They resort to negative campaigning against the BJP saying that saffron party would alienate tribal from their land. But this never happened in last four years. JMM, Congress and other opposition parties are simply putting impediments on the path of development.”

{{/usCountry}}“The JMM leader, who originally hails from Nemra village under Gola block in Ramgarh district, grossly violated the Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act to purchase huge chunks of tribal land at throw away prices in different parts of the state. He had executed 6 land deeds in a single day. While he was in power, he purchased land worth ₹500 crore,” Das said without referring the name of Shibu Soren.
He claimed, “The BJP never resort to politics of discrimination. Modi government extended benefits of welfare schemes to all people without discrimination. In order to keep the culture of Santhal Pargana intact, the government had declared Maghi Purnima and Lunguburu as state fairs. The Ol-Chikki language of Santhal has been introduced in syllabus of Class 1 to 5.”
Das added, “Why the political parties, which claim themselves as well-wishers of tribal, didn’t take this initiative. These parties do not want to make tribal people aware of their rights.
