UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Monday launched a frontal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him the most irresponsible PM in the history of India.
“We understood the PM’s sense of responsibility on the day when he said he had nothing at stake and will leave any time taking his bag along. The country has never seen such an irresponsible Prime Minister so far,” said Sonia while addressing party men at a closed door meeting here.
“I want to tell those who want to shelve their responsibility after ruining the country that each and every Congress worker will continue to fight for the country’s values till their last breath,” she said.
Sonia said the 2019 Lok Sabha election was different from past elections as this one would decide the fate of all sections of society and whether those destroying the Constitution would stay back in power or not.
“This election will decide whether those destroying the Constitution will remain in power or the ones who have respected the Constitution,” said Sonia.
“I am proud that you have stood with me throughout, gave me strength and boosted my confidence… You have been fighting my election in the past and will do so in this election too,” she said while thanking the people for standing by her.
Sonia also said that Congress will fulfill its promises made in its manifesto.

{{/usCountry}}Sonia listed the projects, including the rail coach factory, she brought to the constituency and said the Centre and state governments created hurdles in the way of development works. These works were carried out during the tenure of UPA government, she said.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who also addressed the meeting, targeted BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh and said that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had warned her that Singh would leave the Congress.
Reacting to Sonia comments on Modi, BJP spokesperson Navin Srivastava said: “She should know better. For the first time India silenced our enemies from across the border. Unlike the 1971 war when the then Congress government released scores of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails but failed to liberate around 250 of our men in Pakistani jails. So yes, we are a democracy and Congress can say what it’s saying. But an average Indian is the best barometer to judge the claim of a Congress leader who was the de facto PM for 10 years. Has the country progressed and prospered, emerged out of clutches of vote bank politics in 5 years of Modi rule? The people will answer to this irresponsible remark on May 23.”
