In a setback to RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, the nomination of Angesh Kumar Singh, who he had fielded as an independent candidate from Sheohar Lok Sabha seat, was rejected on Wednesday.
Singh was one of the two rebel candidates fielded by Tej Pratap against the party’s official nominee.
The second is Chandra Prakash Yadav, who filed his nomination on Wednesday from Jehanabad, where RJD has fielded Surendra Prasad Yadav as its candidate.
Tej Pratap was present when Angesh Kumar Singh had filed his nomination a few days back and had even campaigned for him in Sheohar, where RJD has fielded Syed Faisal Ali to take on BJP’s sitting MP Rama Devi.
However, Angesh SIngh’s papers were found wanting and Motihari district magistrate Raman Kumar, who is the returning officer for Sheohar, rejected his nomination.
Additional chief electoral officer Sanjay Singh said the affidavit of the independent candidate was not dully filled and there were many gaps.
“He had been served notice also, but he did not comply. As per the Supreme Court order, the candidates are required to fill up all columns. If the candidate has to furnish no information, he/she still has to write ‘nil’, ‘not applicable’, ‘not known’, as may be applicable. No column should be left blank,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}Tej Pratap Yadav, who had recently launched ‘Lalu-Rabri Morcha’, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
Besides Agnesh Singh, the nomination papers of young Ratnesh Kumar, who had resigned as block development officer (BDO) to contest from Vaishali, has also been rejected. He had resigned from his post earlier this month.
In another development, LJP candidate from Vaishali, Veena Devi, has been served notice following allegations that she had concealed criminal case against her in the affidavit. Vasiahli district magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh said Veena Devi’s lawyer has sought some time for reply.
