Lok Sabha elections 2019: Two held for distributing cash for votes

According to the police, Sandeep Paradkar, 31, and Vaibhav Patil, 33, both residents of Kamothe, were distributing cash. A few local residents caught hold of them and handed them over to the police.

Two people, who were allegedly distributing cash to residents in Kamothe, asking them to vote for a candidates in Maval, were detained by the police on Saturday.

According to the police, Sandeep Paradkar, 31, and Vaibhav Patil, 33, both residents of Kamothe, were distributing cash. A few local residents caught hold of them and handed them over to the police.

Devidas Sonawne, senior inspector from Kamothe police station, said, “We immediately informed the returning officer. We later recovered 11,900 from Paradkar and some election publicity materials from Patil.”

“Paradkar and Patil were distributing cash requesting people to vote for a party,” he further said.

A non-cognizable offence under section 171 (E) of the IPC was registered against the two. The police let them off later in the evening.
