The officials of both the organisations reached Bareilly on Monday and surveyed the proposed land before giving the nod. Devendra Swarup, director of the civil aviation department, arrived around 2 pm and held a meeting with district administration officials at the circuit house.

Anil Narula, additional director, AAI, said, “The air terminal will aid the development of the region. It will also attract tourists who wish to visit Pilibhit and Dudhwa Tiger Reserve.”

“The airport is scheduled to be constructed at Mudia Ahmed Nagar. The district department has already completed the required procedures,” said district magistrate Gaurav Dayal. The district administration has already bought 10 hectare land from farmers for the construction of the air terminal.

Anil Narula, additional director of AAI, arrived around 6 pm and held another round of meeting with the officials. The AAI team then visited the proposed site.

The officials held another round of meeting at the Collectorate on Tuesday and gave the go-ahead for the construction of the terminal.

The DM reportedly asked the officials of UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN) to submit a preliminary estimate for the construction work. “We plan to start the construction by Thursday and finish it by 2017,” said the DM.
