The body of the one-and-a-half-month-old child was sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

The infant, Aradhika was brought for vaccination and administered doses of OPV (first dose), IPV (first dose) and pentavalent vaccine around 11.15 am. Post vaccination, the child left hospital but around 12.45 pm, her father A Tripathi again brought her to the paediatric department of the hospital.

Dr Mohit and Dr Faizan examined the child but then declared her dead. The doctors informed the Wazirganj police and the body was sent for a post mortem-examination.

“The same vaccines were used to vaccinate other kids as well,” said the chief medical officer of Lucknow Dr GS Bajpayee in a press statement. He said 17 other kids were administered the OPV, IPV and the Pentavalent vaccine.

The family members said the child had no illness when brought for immunisation. They registered protest with the medical staff.
