A walk around the campus unveils a number of deceptively ordinary looking shops and shacks selling the most delectable snacks. These places qualify for the top hangout zones in the campus, and students gravitate towards the delicious food whipped in their kitchens in great numbers. As the freshers gear up to enter DU, we take you on a gastronomical ride. So next time you are in the Campus, for admission or just accompanying a friend, do try them.

Tom Uncle’s stall

Despite a number of maggi points mushrooming on the streets of North Campus, there is still no match for the age old Tom Uncle’s Maggi Point. Selling around 50 varieties of the instant noodles, its ingenuity in localizing to the taste of the students makes this kiosk a must-visit spot for all foodies. “The all in one is a favourite with the campus crowd and priced at 80 Rs. per plate,” says Sandeep Kataria, the second generation successor of Tom Uncle. The bhel puri vendor sitting in front of Hindu College is the go-to point for foodies craving a small snack while staying in the campus premises.

The canteens of North Campus are known for offering culinary wonders on a budget. The canteen of Delhi School of Economics (DSE)is widely known for its rajma chawal, keema dosa and mutton cutlets. “The mutton cutlets provided by the canteen for just 30 rupees, are perfect to satiate your post-lecture cravings,” says Tanya Chopra, a student of DSE. The hankering for ghar ka nutritious khaana finds satiation at the Holistic Food Centre canteen, at Faculty of Arts. “We provide the students with nutritious options such as fruit chaat, aam panna and sprouts laddoo, so that their bodies remain fit and minds agile,” says Mr Chaudhary, the owner of the canteen.

Nutella Sandwich at Tony’s

Tony’s is a small shack situated around Patel Chest Institute , known for serving the best sweet and savory toasts in the campus. Their range of Nutella sandwiches is a must try. Other delights from Hudson Lane which should make to the ‘to-eat’ list of all foodies include baked nachos at Big Yellow Door café and tandoori momos at QD’s.
