Rana Daggubati’s Nene Raju Nene Mantri made all the right noises since its first teaser was released. And it meets the expectations set by its promos and aggressive marketing, thanks to director Teja’s fairly engaging script powered by a terrific Rana as Radha Jogendra, a moneylender-turned-ruthless politician. It’s Rana’s show all the way and it couldn’t have come at a better time in his career, which has mostly seen him succeed in multi-starrers such as the Baahubali franchise and Ghazi.
In a power-packed performance, Rana makes Nene Raju Nene Mantri a memorable film that you would like to revisit. It also marks the strong comeback of Teja after a bevy of duds, and he captures the turmoil of the Indian political system at the grassroot level in the most commercial but entertaining fashion. While the story can be predictable and follows a regular template, the scenes and dialogues make it work. Rana’s powerful screen presence takes everything up a notch and it’s a treat to watch him turn from good to grey.
The film reminds what power could do to people like us. When Rana is pushed to the brink by the system and powerful people, he fights back and the result is what makes Nene Raju Nene Mantri one of the better commercial outings of this year. Amidst the desire for power, there’s charming romance between Rana and Kajal Aggarwal at the heart of the film. It’s interesting that the entire film is built on the romantic track and the political angle is merely used to give the story a solid padding.

{{/usCountry}}Nenu Raju Nene Mantri is about the rise, fall and redemption of Rana’s character, Jogendra. As a politician, Rana is menacing, and his transformation is very well captured. The film is based on the philosophies of legendary actor-politician MGR, and Teja has very competently written Rana’s character keeping the image of the yesteryear star in mind.
This is a great follow-up to Baahubali franchise for Rana, who carries the film on his shoulders, quite literally, and proves himself in an author-backed role. One of the highlights of the film is its dialogues which will relate with everybody.
