Abducted from Mumbai, 5-year-old girl found strangled in toilet at railway station in Gujarat

Police suspect the child, a resident of Nallasopara, was killed by the woman who kidnapped her, release sketch

A five-year-old girl from Nallasopara, who was kidnapped on Saturday night was found murdered in the ladies’ toilet of Navsari railway station in Gujarat on Sunday evening.

The body of Anjali Saroj, a nursery student of a Hindi-medium school in Nallasopara, was found on Sunday.

The Tulinj police have registered a case of kidnapping and murder and have released a sketch of the possible killer who seems to be fair, tall and was wearing a salwar kameez. A team from Tulinj police station is in Navsari to trace the killer and murder sections will be added soon.

The victim, Anjali Saroj, a nursery student, who resided with her parents in Vijay Nagar, Nallasopara (East) was playing with some of her friends near her house on Saturday. “An unknown woman lured her with chocolates and kidnapped her. Her father registered a case with us and we were probing when the Navsari police informed us about the body,” said an official. Her body was found in the ladies’ toilet on platform 1 at Navsari station. “She was strangled and we think the killer could be a woman as the body was found in the ladies’ toilet. We are scanning all CCTV footages from Borivli, Vasai, Virar, Palghar, Dahanu and other stations,” he said.
