At least 20 people suffered injuries after a luxury bus they were travelling in overturned on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Tuesday. The accident took place near Khandala around 12.30pm.

The police said the bus was going towards Pune from Mumbai. As it was crossing a curve near Khandala, it toppled on the road. The bus was packed with passengers when the accident took place, the police said.

“It is not clear how the accident took place. Some of the injured have been admitted to a local hospital near Lonavala, while some others have been rushed to Pune,” said a police officer from Lonavala city police station.
“Most of the injured are believed to be from Mumbai. Many of them are yet to be identified,” he said.
