The Dadar-Sawantwadi-Dadar Express, a popular train among passengers to travel to the Konkan region, will be renamed ‘Tutari Express’ from next week.

The Indian Railways will be renaming the train in the presence of Railways minister Suresh Prabhu and other dignitaries in a function at Dadar on Monday.
The Railways had introduced the Rajyarani Express on the Dadar-Sawantwadi route on July 1, 2011. Due to the quick overnight journey, the train became very popular among the people from Konkan area.
As a sign of respect to revolutionary Marathi Poet Krishnaji Keshav Damle, who wrote under the pen name `Keshavsut,’ the railways has decided to rename the train Tutari Express, after the title of his famous Marathi poem “Tutari” which means a trumpet-like instrument in Marathi .
Written during the British Rule in India, in the poem, Keshavsut calls for a fight for independence. The inspirational poem was popular among Maharshtrians during the freedom struggle. Keshavsut was born near the famous tourist destination Ganapatipule, in Ratnagiri district of Konkan.
