A fire broke out in the basement of Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) in Mumbai’s Parel area, on Saturday morning. Doctors confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported as the fire was brought under control within an hour.

Disaster management officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said they received a call at 9.20 am reporting the fire. Police officials from Bhoiwada police station and fire officials immediately rushed to the spot along other officers from BMC’s disaster management cell. Four fire engines and water tankers were dispatched to the hospital.
A hospital spokesperson said that none of the patients were either inconvenienced or injured during the incident. It was only after smoke started coming out of the basement, people raised the alarm about the possibility of a fire break out.
Preliminary reports have revealed that the fire started in the basement where the stock of medicines were store.
