Four teenagers booked for raping 14-year-old boy in Mumbai

Mumbai city news: The accused minors were sent back to the same remand home as the survivor but they were confined to different barracks. The police is also keeping an eye on them.

The Dongri police recently booked four minors for raping a 14-year-old inside a children’s remand home in Dongri.

“The accused and the rape survivor are kept in different floors now,” said senior inspector Nitin Bangale from Dongri police station. The children can, however, come across each other during meal breaks as they have food in a common area. “We are keeping an eye on the accused and have taken special precautions to ensure that they do not reach out or harm the boy again,” said the inspector.

The incident came to light after an NGO working for children’s welfare conducted a seminar on sexual harassment at the home in May end. The boy approached one of the NGO officials after the seminar and told him about the assault.

According to the police, the boy was first raped by the 17-year-old accused in April while he was taking a shower. He also threatened the survivor of dire consequences if he revealed the matter to anyone.

An officer from Dongri police station said, “The officials from the NGO brought the boy to us and we registered a case against the four accused.”

The survivor was brought to the remand home after the Malwani police caught him in a theft case.
