In order to provide last mile connectivity from the newly-constructed Oshiwara station, Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has requested Western Railway (WR) to provide 6000 sqm land near the east side of Oshiwara station.

Currently, the BEST is developing its land near the west side of Oshiwara station from where the buses can be operated to Ram Mandir Road and other parts of Oshiwara west, but they don’t have any facility to start feeder services from east side of the new station.

“We have requested for the land near Oshiwara station east from where the bus service to Aarey Colony, Jogheswari-Vikhroli Link Road and Jay Coach can be operated,” said senior BEST official requesting anonymity.

This was discussed in the joint meeting chaired by minister for industries, Subhash Desai, and attended by senior officials from railways, state government, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and BEST on Friday November, 4, 2016.

When contacted, Western Railway (WR) chief public relation officer (CPRO) Ravindra Bhakar said, “This request was made by the BEST in the joint meeting, but so far we have not received any such written proposal from them. However, whenever such a proposal is sent, we will forward it to railway board.”
