The Marine Drive police have registered a case of cheating and forgery against unknown people who have been selling fake tickets outside the Wankhede stadium for IPL matches this season.

The fraud came to light after 15 people who tried entering the stadium for a match on Monday were handed over to the police for holding fake tickets.
“The victims were sold tickets for the Sachin Tendulkar stand by some people outside the stadium. They were caught when the tickets’ bar codes were scanned at the entrance,” said an officer from the Marine Drive police station, requesting anonymity.
The victims claimed they bought the tickets for prices ranging from Rs800 to Rs2,000.
