Looking forward to fulfil last wish of my niece: Muradkhan Babi

As per the late actor’s will, Muradkhan gets 20% share in her property while the rest will be used to form a trust for the welfare of underprivileged women and children from the Babi community of Junagadh

Muradkhan Babi, 82, is a relieved man. Maternal uncle of late Bollywood actor Parveen Babi, he fought and won the 11-year-old long legal battle for the legitimacy of her will that was challenged in court by her paternal family.

As per the will, Muradkhan gets 20% share in her property while the rest of her wealth should be used to form a trust for the welfare of underprivileged women and children from the Babi community of Junagadh.

Muradkhan, who resides in Junagadh where the late actor spent her childhood with him and has reached a ripe old age, says he is now looking forward to fulfil the last wish of his niece.

“A haveli given to her father (who was administrator with the erstwhile Junagadh princely state) by former Maharaja Mohabat Khan is in a dismal state. Parveen wanted the Junagadh haveli to be converted into a place for the Babi clan to live. I will begin from here,” he told HT.

He has two sons and a daughter. One of the sons lives with him in a two-storeyed tenement at Sunni Bohrawad, while the other resides is in Jamnagar. The daughter is settled in Ahmedabad.
