Your travel between Mumbai and Pune would soon get smoother and faster as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has got a crucial go-ahead to construct the ‘missing link’ between Khalapur and Kusgaon.

This will reduce the travel time between the two cities by close to 30 minutes.
As part of the plan, the expressway will get tunnels and additional lanes that will reduce the snarls.
It will help motorists avoid the ghat section, which is the most critical section where heavy vehicles slow down the traffic.
According to senior MSRDC officials, the state urban development department issued a notification permitting land acquisition of the stretch, which falls under the Lonavala Municipal Corporation.
The MSRDC has got a go-ahead from the cabinet committee on infrastructure, while the clearance from forest department is in advanced stages.
The project requires 266 acres, of which 106 acres is private land owned by farmers and 160 acres forest land.
The work on the project, which is estimated to cost Rs4,798 crore, will start by November
