Valentine’s Day is all about expressing love and the youth from Mumbai and Thane did the same, but with a twist. They sent cards and letters to the elderly, forgotten by their dear ones, at an old age home in Thane to express their love and concern. The NGO received more than 60 cards and letters for the elderly.

The initiative was taken by non-governmental organisation (NGO) Silver Inning, which received an overwhelming response from all age groups across Mumbai and Thane.

Sailesh Mishra, founder of the NGO, said, “This is a different kind of celebration that we have chosen for the elders and caregivers, to bring smile on their faces. Thankfully, we received and overwhelming support from the youngsters. A few even sent personalised cards to select individuals.”

Avinash Dalvi, 24, a Majiwada resident said, “ I came to know about Snehanjali old age home through one of my friends. My grandparents are no more and I miss them a lot. So I thought of lightning up someone else’s day and sent a letter.”

As a part of Valentine’s Day celebrations, the NGO had organised cake-cutting ceremony and other programmes at the old age home.
