Pratyusha sought psychiatric help two days before her suicide

A doctor’s statement shed light on Banerjee’s pregnancy and said she opted for an abortion when she was seven-weeks pregnant, said the police

Two days before she committed suicide, Pratyusha Banerjee wrote to a psychiatrist, saying her relationship was the source of her depression. The police recorded the psychiatrist’s statement, which is included in the charge sheet.

A doctor’s statement shed light on Banerjee’s pregnancy and said she opted for an abortion when she was seven-weeks pregnant, said the police.

Denied bail, Rahul Raj Singh goes missing

“On March 30, I received an email from a woman named Pratyusha Banerjee. She wrote that she was depressed because of her relationship. She said she needed counselling,” said counsellor Vinesh Jayraj in his statement.

Jayraj immediately called Banerjee on the number she included in the email. The two fixed an appointment for the next day but Banerjee did not show up.

The actor committed suicide a day later, on April 1 at her Goregaon apartment, which she used to share with her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, an actor-producer.

Of the 63 witnesses whose statements have been recorded for the charge sheet against Singh in the suicide abetment case, the statement of a doctor who Banerjee approach to terminate her pregnancy is also included.

The doctor, Veena Shinde, said Banerjee visited her hospital on March 7.

“Banerjee told me that she was pregnant despite taking precautions. She wanted to get an abortion. I made her fill out a consent form,” said Singh.

The doctor gave her medicines and a prescription. Banerjee, during her hospital visit, also underwent a sonography test.

While the doctor gave her a second appointment, asking her to visit with the reports, Banerjee did not show up.
