Rickshaw driver stabs wife, attacks daughter

According to police, the accused Mohan Mahajan, after leaving his family two years back, lived separately in Kalyan. His wife Manisha, 45, who works for a private firm; daughter Gauravi, 24; and son lived together in Thankar pada at Bazarpeth in Kalyan.

On Thursday night, Mahajan went to Manisha’s home and started arguing with her for not informing him about Gauravi’s wedding next week, police said. In a fit of rage, Mahajan picked up a knife and stabbed Manisha multiple times. As Gauravi intervened to stop her father, Mahajan attacked her too and fled from the spot.

D Bhadane, police inspector, Bazarpeth police station, said, “Upon hearing the scream, the locals rushed to Manisha’s home. Both the mother and daughter were taken to a nearby hospital. While Manisha was declared dead on arrival, Gauravi’s condition is critical.”
