Three people were arrested for allegedly attacking two police personnel, attached to Wagle Estate police station, and vandalising a chowky in Thane.

One of the victims was grievously injured in the attack.

The accused are from the same family and were identified as Santosh Kadam, 38, Dinesh Kadam, 40, and Sunil Kadam,43 — all residents of Hajuri village in Wagle Estate.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when the women from the Kadam family had an argument with their neighbours, who called the police after being attacked and abused by the accused, the police said.

A constable went to the spot and brought the three men to the Hazuri beat chowky for questioning, said R Malekar, senior police inspector of Wagle Estate police station.

Police inspector Nitin Gholkar and constable Sunil Dhonde were at the chowky and asked the trio about the reason behind the brawl.

Taking an affront to the questioning, the trio smashed the window panes, broke open the cupboard and flung the documents in the chowky, the police said.

The accused men allegedly kicked the personnel in the chest and stomach.

They have been booked under assault and obstructing a public servant from discharging their duty charges.

They were produced in a court and were remanded in police custody till October 6.
