After flash strike, rickshaws back on streets of Dombivli

A day after rickshaws in Dombivli went on a flash strike demanding action against supporters of Mahrashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) who assaulted rickshaw drivers on Friday, deputy commissioner of police Hirasingh Jadhav managed to broker a truce.

Rickshaws, which had gone off the road late on Friday evening, were back in action on Saturday.

Ankush Mhatre, leader of a rickshaw union in Dombivli said, "Unlike Mumbai, there is no problem with rickshaws here. MNS is targeting rickshaw drivers for publicity". DCP Jadhav said that six MNS activists had been arrested, following which rickshaws resumed service. MNS, though, claimed that rickshaws were forced to resume work after the party started free bus service.
