Ambernath police arrested 42-year-old Firoz Abdul Majid Khan, a teacher at Brilliant Classes, for allegedly distributing copies of the SSC mathematics paper 1 thirty minutes before the exam to his students on Thursday.
Inspector Shivshankar Ramrao Munde, Ambernath police station, said that they had been waiting outside the coaching class on Thursday based on information that the coaching class had been in the past leaked the exam paper on the day of examination.
Police say that they raided the coaching class after students came out with papers in their hands at around 10.45am. Subsequently, they contacted Fatima High Schhol, Ambernath to compare the seized papers with the actual exam paper. “The principal told us that the papers were the same,” said Munde.
Police say that during interrogation, Khan said he received the papers from former corporator Mandakini Bhor’s son, Mukund Bhor, who works as a teacher in Mandakini Bhor Madhyamik Vidyalaya, which is also an exam centre.
The education board, however, denied that the paper was leaked. Laxmikant Pandey, chairperson of the state board, Mumbai division, says that after supervisors at Mandakini Bhor Madhyamik Vidyalaya opened the seal of the exam papers minutes, Mukund Bhor took one of the papers under the pretext of reading it. He gave the paper to Feroz Shah, owner of Brilliant classes, who took the paper to his coaching class located 5 minutes from the school. “But the paper wasn’t leaked as all the students were already in the exam hall,” he added.
