Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, LK Advani visited the Mount Mary Church at Bandra. Whilst there, he said he was grateful to missionary schools for his early education. Advani took a tour of the historical church and also lit a candle.

The BJP leader was given a Bible and a book on the history of the church. Recently, Advani’s blog was criticised by Christian missionaries for undertaking systematic conversions under the garb of social service.
During his visit to the church, however, the senior BJP leader claimed that he was open to all cultures. “We are open to all religions. I have studied in a missionary school and I am grateful to the early education that was provided,” Advani said.
“I have had a very close association with the Catholic community since my school days. I was born and educated in Karachi and my school, St Patrick’s was run by Christian brothers,” Advani said.
St Patrick’s school was also the alma mater of Pakistani leaders such as Pervez Musharraf and Asif Ali Zardari, he told reporters.
