Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has asked the state school education department to ensure that Adishree Gopalkrishnan (13), a student of Vibgyor High in Goregaon, who was expelled on June 2, is taken back.

Gopalkrishnan met the CM on Saturday and appealed to him for justice and recognition of her right to education. Chavan has asked the state school education department to ensure she is taken back, said her mother.
“The chief minister has asked the state school education department to ensure that Adhishree is taken back by the school. But, the department has not taken any action as of now,” said Adhishree’s mother Avisha Kulkarni (45.)
A government official who did not wish to be named confirmed the meeting. “The chief minister met Adhishree and her mother on Saturday. He has asked the department to ensure that she is re-admitted in her school within a week,” he said.
SR Chavan, the deputy director of the school education department said that it was ‘an official discussion’ and refused to comment further.
Vibgyor High had said Adishree, a Class 9 student, was expelled because her mother had filed a ‘false and unwarranted’ police complaint against the school management last July.
