Drinking water at Central Railway stations will get safer. Next month, the CR authorities will install water-vending machines that will filter water through reserve osmosis. This process filters and purifies seawater to drinking water by removing salt from water.

“We have taken the initiative to provide pure water. It’s not that we have got complaints about the water supply from it,” said S. Mudgerikar, chief PRO, Central Railway.
Some of the stations where the vending machines will be installed are CST, Masjid, Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane on main line and Wadala, Chembur, and Panvel on Harbour line. Water from this machine would be free of cost.
The CR has started the process of digging bore wells at 30 locations at a cost of Rs 35.35 lakh.
