Indian women attach the greatest importance to work-life balance than women in any other country, according to a recent survey.

A global survey on working women across 33 countries revealed that 72% of Indian women had turned down a job or did not pursue one as they were concerned about its impact on work-life balance. Some of the other reasons for women quitting jobs included poor work culture (68%), gossip (66%) and the feeling that their work goes unnoticed (58%).
"Gender-based division of labour is largely prevalent in our society, which often forces women to leave jobs or to opt for self-employment," said Ritu Dewan, professor, centre for gender economics, Mumbai university.
According to the findings of the survey conducted by Accenture, 96% of Indian women felt that the time outside of work was important for work-life balance. Also, 66% of the women respondents said that though technology helped in maintaining work-life balance, it brought work into their personal lives.
