The woman, who was reported to have married him on a train to Uttar Pradesh on January 8 last year, had filed an application before the TADA court on June 15, claiming her life has been ruined by the controversy generated.

“I feel like committing suicide owing to the cheap publicity. As I have been defamed without any reason, I would now like to take a bold step and get married to Salem,” read her application.

The 40-year-old gangster, through a two-page reply to the plea, accepted to marry her.

“I apologise from the bottom of my heart to the applicant for the sufferings she had to undergo because of my name being tagged with her. I have no further intention to cause any disrespect and harm to the applicant who was not at any fault,” said Salem, in his reply.

Promising to take care of the woman, Salem said: “I will take care of her in all respects. She will not be further defamed as she will be my wife officially.”

The court is waiting for the prosecution to file its reply before passing an order.

This is Salem's third marriage.

His first marriage took place in the early 90s with Sumaira Jumani, with whom he has a son. Jumani was a resident of Mumbai and had married Salem against the wishes of her family. Relations between them soured after Monica Bedi entered his life

Salem's second wife is reported to be actress Monica Bedi who has always denied being married to him.
