I never use crass lyrics, says Punjabi singer Deep Money

Punjabi singer Deep Money reminisces the melodious days of ’80s and ’90s, as he talks about the current trend of songs.

“Yo Yo Honey Singh gave me the name Deep Money,” shares singer Amandeep Singh aka Deep Money. We caught up with the singer, who was in Gurgaon recently shooting for his upcoming music video.

Talking about the current trend of song, he says, “Aaj ki date mein sharaab ke gaane bahut ho gaye. Aap kisi ko mana nahi kar sakte ki kya karen kya na kare. Woh jo music tha 80’s, 90’s and 2000 ka, main miss karta hoon. Joh melodies the woh miss ho chuke hai. I never use crass lyrics in my songs.”

On what made him choose Gurgaon, Deep says, “We shot from morning till late night in Sohna at a farm house. Woh location Canada ki lag rahi thi. It was wonderful to shoot. It was a single-day shoot.”

The 29-year-old born and brought up in Delhi confesses that he always wanted to be a singer and the industry welcomes new artists. “Jab aapka ek gaana hit hota hai, industry aapko openly accept karti hai.You just have to work hard and make good music,” says the man, who has crooned songs such as Dope Shope, Ranjha, Cute Look. About his journey, he says, “I was in class eight when I met my guruji — Malkit Singh. Woh mere guruji hai. Maine kabhi kisi ke peeche back vocaling nahi ki. Main unke saath shows pe jaaya karta tha. After schooling, I joined Khalsa College. Mere kayi dost the, jinhone doctor ya engineer banna tha. Meri singer banne ki journey wahan se start hui. Then I undertook training in classical singing. I met Honey Singh, unke saath mera bahut achha time nikla.”

The singer, lyricist says he has visited and performed in Gurgaon several times. “This city has amazing places to hang out, such as Cyber Hub. I have done many shows here. I get lots of love from the people there in the form of sold out shows. Every big artist loves performing in the city. I stay in Delhi toh aana jaana bhi laga rehta hai,” he says.
