Punjabi singer Hardevinder Singh Sandhu aka Hardy Sandhu says he was upset after his song, Soch, was sung by playback singer Arijit Singh in actor Akshay Kumar’s recent film, Airlift.
“Dukh toh hota hi hai. (I’m bound to feel sad). I was upset when they got Arijit Singh to sing the Hindi version and the recording label chose to ignore me who sang the original version. Woh gaana dil mein bas gaya hai. We’ve sung that song so many times and it is so special that I’d have loved to sing its film version as well,” says Sandhu.
The singer, who released his latest single Horn Blow on Tuesday, has made up his mind that he will let anyone else sing his song for a film, now. “I am ready to give my songs to Bollywood. But there’s only one condition that I will sing all my songs. It’s not a great feeling to hear someone else sing your song,” he says.

Sandhu sang the Punjabi version of the song in 2014, and says it changed his life. “Uss gaane ne zindagi badal di. I used to roam around Delhi without getting mobbed by fans. But after we released the song, it’s not been easy,” says the 27-year-old, adding: “This one time we were caught in a traffic jam on our way to a show in Delhi. I thought we’d get off and take the metro. Uss din pata chala ki kapde fatana kya cheez hoti hai (It was that day that I realised what it’s like when fans almost tear off your clothes)!
