The rumours suggested that the singer had suffered a heart attack. The source of the rumours could not be traced.

Earlier, fillmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also confirmed that these reports were just rumours. He wrote on Twitter that he spoke to Lata and added that she is hale and hearty. He further urged people to stop spreading "baseless rumours".
