What’s your idea of God?

He is the creator of this whole 'kainat' (cosmos). I find His creation of the cosmos, with all the species and the mechanism of us human beings simply amazing.

Do you make a distinction between religion and spirituality?

Yes. Religion affirms and makes rules for what the beauty and intellect of spirituality stand for. So while religion can bind, spirituality opens the mind and soul and makes a person think from a ‘higher’ zone.

Do you feel that something/someone keeps you protected?

Our thoughts, actions, attitude and duty towards our responsibility is a must. That is what ultimately keeps us protected.

How do you practice spirituality in your personal life?

I practice it by singing to the creator’s beautiful and bountiful creations. I celebrate every aspect of being the ‘supreme human beings’ that we are.

Who or what are your spiritual ideals/inspirations?

My inspiration comes from my belief that God loves us more than we can ever love Him. That’s because He created love and thus I feel so loved and cherished.

To have ‘choices’ is a very happy existence. Then, of course, making the right ‘choices’ automatically give us happiness.

How do you make your spiritual connection work at work?

By expanding ourselves to make our mark as great human beings. In my own way, I like to ‘give back’ to the world. I have started the UstadGah Music Institute to teach underprivileged but musically talented children. The idea is to teach them to preserve our heritage and culture.
