Jamaican singer Sean Paul will be in Delhi for his maiden performance in the city, tonight, and he promises that the night will be a memorable one as it will have an Indian touch to it. “I’m blending my concert with the festival of lights, so the ambience and the entire décor will portray the look and feel of Indian culture. Also, I’m getting a fleet of exotic Jamaican women to dance, but you will see them in Indian wear (instead of bikinis and hot pants that they wear for performances worldwide)" says Paul, who will perform at the Noida club, Quantum, as part of his multi-city tour by Kingfisher Ultra Soul flyp.
The Grammy award-winning reggae singer has more things Indian on his mind. “After my tour I’m hoping to be able to visit the Taj Mahal. I really want to know its story. India has a rich cultural heritage. I just hope in the stipulated time of my visit, I can make the most of it. And, since I’m fond of jackets, I’m getting 50 of those with me as I plan to visit Indian designers to get Zardosi work done on the jackets,” he says.
Ask him about his tracklist for the concert, and Paul says: “All my Indian fans will groove to their all-time favourite tracks from my earlier albums, be it Temperature or Get Busy. Something special will be bringing Tomahawk Technique, which has been a rage in the US and Europe.”
Known for having collaborated with other international artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Akon, Snoop Dogg and Chris Brown, among others, Paul is also up for collaborations with Indian musicians. “Indian singers are renowned worldwide. I’m aware of AR Rahman, and would love a collaboration,” he says. And what’s his view on Bollywood and its music? “Bollywood is ultimate. All I know is that its music is doing well globally,” says Paul, whose brother is accompanying him and on the tour, and might also perform with him.

Not many know that The Got 2 Luv U hitmaker was a chef before he took off on the musical front. What does he love to cook the most? "Chicken and rice is my favourite. I’m a foodie and I plan to sample every possible Indian dish before taking my flight back to Jamaica. If not anything else, it will be Indian food that shall call me back to India," he says.
