SAHARANPUR: A gang of armed robbers tried to loot passengers of Chennai Express between Nagwal and Tapri area here, an attempt thwarted by GRP jawans who opened fire at them. Several rounds of fire were exchanged between the robbers and GRP personnel on Thursday night, triggering panic among passengers. “A dozen armed miscreants pulled the emergency chain and started looting passengers. Soon GRP jawans arrived,” GRP area in-charge Brajpal Singh said.
