“I genuinely feel the need for such a book for the next generation of Bishopites,as this would inspire them to make their lives as memorable as their predecessors,” said Cyrus Poonawalla, alumnus of Bishop’s School, 1958 batch, and the chief guest of the book launch event.

Swept by nostalgia, as many of the alumni present at the occasion,he said, “It reminds me of the good old days. From the mischief and fun, to lessons learnt. I was never a good student and my father had challenged me that if I come first in class at SSC boards, he would reward me and admit me to study further at Cambridge”.

“While I won the challenge, my father didn’t keep his word, fearing that once I went abroad, I would marry an European lady and never come back,” he said in a lighter vein.

The institution boasts of several eminent personalities as its alumni which includes, Cyrus Poonawalla, founder of Serum Institute of India, Pheroz Pudumjee, director and chairman of Thermax Ltd and Satish Magar, founder of Magarpatta City, and others like Adar Poonawalla, Balaji Rao, etc. Oldest among them, 86-year old Jamshed Darbari of 1947 batch, present at the occasion said, “It is an overwhelming experience to see the school, where I have learnt several values. One such lesson is that knowledge increases, when you share it.”

“The ethos of the school needs to be passed on from one generation to another so that the legacy is carried on, and this book facilitates this beautifully” said Joel Edwin, principal of the school.
