As many as 150 trees transplanted by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd in December 2017 are showing signs of survival and will soon stand tall on their roots.
A total of eight trees are growing well at the Vallabh nagar Metro Sahyog Kendra. It has been 180 days after they were transplanted.
Ramnath Subramaniam, executive chairman, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, said “Six months ago, we successfully completed transplantation of the first tree in the Vallabh Nagar area.We have taken proper care and it has showed results. Approximately 150 out of 195 trees transplanted have started to stand tall again on their roots.We are planning to transplant more trees in the future scientifically. Water should be splashed on the trunk and other parts of the tree.”
Initially, the Maha Metro had undertaken transplantation of trees affected in the Primpri-Chinchwad area. Later, a private firm called Green Morning was appointed. They transplanted trees affected by the Maha-Metro Project at Pachgaon Parvati, proposed garden in Akurdi, Sant Tukaram Nagar and Nehru Nagar Bus stand. The transplantation of the trees have been conducted by specialised staff in a scientific way, say officials.

{{/usCountry}}The Maha-Metro allocated tender to a Hyderabad-based private firm Green Morning at an estimated cost of ₹3.5crore under which a total of 334 trees are to be transplanted and this includes the maintenance of the trees for two years.
