More than 640 cases were settled during a monthly Lok Adalat organised at the local courts on Saturday. More than Rs 22 lakh was awarded as compensation.
Six different benches, chaired by district and sessions judge Justice Gurmit Ram Banial along with judges Gurmeet Kaur, Jagdip Singh Marok, Vikramjeet Singh, Mohit Bansal, Aprajita Joshi and Rajesh Bhagat, heard a total of 694 cases.

“Most cases resolved on Saturday pertained to civil, matrimonial related issues, rent related cases and Motor Accident related claims,” revealed district and sessions judge Gurmit Ram Banial.
“This was the 253rd Lok Adalat organised in the district, during which 34,768 cases have been settled so far,” he added.
