Two cities from Punjab are among the list of 27 centres to be developed as smart cities under the NDA government’s ambitious plan for an urban overhaul.

The decision taken on Tuesday includes Amritsar and Jalandhar.

Ludhiana had been included in the first list of 20 cities, which was announced by Urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu in January this year.
In the second list of 13 cities declared in May, Chandigarh secured fourth position.
