The road leading to Majitha from the Amritsar-Majitha bypass has become a nightmare for the residents due to its bad civic condition and also dug-up road to cover the adjoining open drain.
Notably, the road is one of the prominent routes to enter the city and heavy traffic movement is witnessed throughout the day. The condition of the road is such that it impossible to drive comfortably with all the digging.
Making the condition worse, is the heavy flow of buses and trucks on the entire stretch of the bypass.
Nirmal Singh, a resident said, “I live nearby. My daughter has met with an accident because of the terrible condition of the road. Today, I do not allow her to drive on this road. The road’s condition is pathetic and the entire stretch till Pandori is in the same condition.”
Meanwhile, the unattended drain work also emanates a foul smell in the area making it difficult to even breathe on the road. Vijay Kumar, a shopkeeper of plastic plates, on the side of the road said, “My stock is covered with dust from the road. Also, it is difficult for the customers to reach my shop and business has also declined due to the poor condition of the road.”
