With his name being cleared for the Padma Vibhushan, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal must now have to bring a perceptible change in his conduct and behavior, said former deputy speaker of Punjab Bir Devinder Singh.

Devinder said Badal is now expected to address the large fraternity of human brotherhood rather than indulging in narrow political mudslinging against his opponents.

"Badal should establish greater sodality with all the people of the state, irrespective of their political belief. His every action should be so carefully attuned, that it should reflect the exalted decorum of a persona that has been decorated with the second highest civilian honor", Devinder added.

Meanwhile, slamming Badal for his sangat darshan programme at Dhuri in Sangrur district for past several days, Devinder said the brazen misuse of official machinery and state resources for political purposes does not augur well to Badal's enhanced stature.

"Although, as per rules, it does not amount to the violation of the model code of conduct the uninterrupted presence of chief minister in the constituency ever since the vacation of the assembly seat by Arvind Khana can be described as blatant infringement of political illustriousness", he said.
