With only 5,578 of 9,031 students passing the exam, SAS Nagar is second from bottom among the 22 districts of the state. Barnala is the only district that has the least number of students passing with 57.79 pass percentage. Neighbouring districts like Rupnagar have fared well by recording a pass percentage of 70.86, with even the border districts performing much better. This is despite the fact that the schools in SAS Nagar do not lack in terms of infrastructure and are the most sought after by the teachers. “The teachers will have to face action. Just like teachers with poor results in Class 12 have been pulled up, similarly the teachers of Class 10 will also face action,” said DEO (secondary) Mewa Singh Sandhu.
