On Tuesday afternoon, after Hindustan Times broke the controversy over the park being given the name of DGP by commissioner of police (CP), Jalandhar, Arpit Shukla; the police headquarters ordered immediate removal of the DGP’s name from the site and rapped Shukla for doing so without taking the headquarters into confidence.

However, the inauguration stone installed by the police is still lying at the park site, still terming the park on the DGP’s name.

The park, which was renovated by the police with the help of a local industrial house, was dedicated to the public by CP on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, the issue remained at the talking point in police and the general administration, with many senior officers questioning the move of naming a park on a serving officer.

“There is not even one example where a serving officer has been dedicated anything like this,” he added.
