Over the last four days, 28 dengue cases have been reported in Chandigarh, taking the number to 578. The number of chikungunya cases has also seen an increase in the last couple of days, which was otherwise on the decline. Ten cases were reported in the last four days, taking the total number of patients this season to 88.
“Of the 28 dengue cases reported from various health institutions in four days, eight are confirmed,” reads the press statement issued by the health department.
To strengthen the preventive measures, the health department has issued 72 challans and 4,200 notices for not abiding by the guidelines regarding cleanliness.
To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out, along with strengthening of the field activities, such as inspections and awareness drives.
Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, antimalaria officer, said, “The number of dengue and chikungunya are on the decline. We expect the cases to dip further by October-end.”
17 new cases in SAS Nagar
SAS Nagar: With 17 fresh dengue cases on Thursday, the number of patients in SAS Nagar district has gone up to 1,369.
Out of the 17 cases that tested positive on Thursday, 6 cases were reported from SAS Nagar, 3 from Kharar, 2 from Nayagoan and 6 cases from villages in the vicinity.

P’kula has 136 cases
PANCHKULA: The number of dengue cases in Panchkula has risen to 136 from 127 in the last three days. The number of chikungunya cases has risen to 24 from 20. Civil surgeon Dr VK Bansal said dengue is losing its sting as weather is getting colder.
