The nurses had levelled serious allegations against Sharda, who retired in March this year from the hospital.

The police have registered a case under Sections 354 (assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC Act.

Sharda currently runs a private clinic at Nabha.

Nabha police station SHO Amanpal Singh Virk said that the two nurses alleged that the doctor called them to his room to collect keys of his car to bring surgical material for conducting surgery. "In their complaints, the nurses alleged that when they went to collect keys from his room, the doctor offered them tea and then started making sexual advances", Virk said.
However, Sharda refuted the allegations against him and alleged that his family members were trying to implicate him in a false case, Virk said.

"Sharda and his wife, who is also a doctor, have a strained relationship. Even the nurses, who have levelled charges against Sharda, are working in his wife's clinic, situated adjacent to his clinic", he added.

"We have started investigations and arrest will be made after conducting proper inquiry into the allegations," the police said.
