Pooja Rani, whose father works as a waiter in marriage and other functions, topped the list in vocational stream results across the state. She scored 434 out of 450 marks and ranked first across the state.
On the other hand, Rinki Rani, a rickshaw-puller’s daughter, secured second rank in the said category from all over the Punjab.
Both were the students of Government Girls Multipurpose Senior Secondary School, Model Town, Patiala.
Pooja said she faced some financial problems as the income of her father was not enough to run the house properly. However, she did not lose heart and studied with full dedication to achieving the success. “I am very happy that I have secured top position in the board exams in my stream. I have been consistent in my studies and maintained the balance between academics and other activities,” said Pooja.
Joginder Singh, Poojas’ father, said despite financial barriers, her daughter proved herself in the result. “She studied hard to achieve the goal and never complained about the economical hindrances,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rinki Rani scored 431 marks out of total 450 and bagged the second position across the state. “Though my father is a rickshaw puller, he ensured that I was never deprived of education because of the lack of money,” she said.
