Dr Garima Mittal took over the charge of deputy commissioner (DC) Panchkula on Monday. Mittal is a 2010 batch officer. She was administrator, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Faridabad prior to this.
She has replaced Mandip Singh Brar who has been transferred to Karnal.
Before Faridabad, she was ADC, Palwal. She is a qualified medical doctor also.
With her taking over as DC, all the prominent 4 administrative posts are now held by women at Mini Secretariat in Panchkula. ADC is Hema Sharma, SDM Panchkula is Radhika Singh and city magistrate is Mamta Sharma.
The last time such an administrative position happened was in July 2012 when the DC, the DCP, Panchkula SDM and Kalka SDM were held by women.
Dr Mittal said government’s people centric programmes, giving speed to developmental projects and bringing transparency would be her priorities.
She added that she would ensure that people of the district wouldn’t have to suffer and e-services should reach people.
She said the current initiatives of the government to balance the sex ratio and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign would be intensified.
